Research areas

My work primarily focuses on twentieth and twenty-first-century American women’s writing. I specialize in women writers of colour, marginalized voices and multiethnic literature. My primary research and teaching interests include American literature, feminist theory, memory studies, diaspora studies and critical food studies.

My PhD research examined the complex ways in which memory and nostalgia influences the imagination of identity, home and belonging in the works of Jhumpa Lahiri, Paule Marshall and Ana Castillo. I am revising my thesis for publication as a monograph.

I am also working on my second research project which examines food, intimacies and affect in post-1950s American women’s narratives.
