My PhD project is going to investigate the fertility variation and its determinants in China from two perspectives: on the one hand, it is going to analyse whether the spatial variation in fertility level and change at a macro level (county-level) exists in China and the determinants’ direct and spillover impact on fertility level and change; on the other hand, how socio-economic determinants in local context influence residents’ fertility behaviour from the life course perspective will be analysed.
